Mortgage company sells house for $50 at end of 1997
The Taj Mahal its not. At the end of 1997, a national finance company sold a
Church Hill home to a Richmond investor for $ 50. Yes, Fifty dollars.
The home was in good enough shape to rent and redevelopment in the area could make a
big difference for future re-sale value.
To top it off, the seller paid $ 1000 of the buyers closing cost and paid a $ 1500
commission.
Sadly, the tenant caught the house on fire a few weeks after closing.
